He was a member of the Free Mandela Campaign committee and played an important role in its activities. He also revealed to the court that he was a loyal member and follower of the banned CP whose aim was to free all the people of South Africa from oppression. To that purpose he fully and unequivocally subscribed to and was determined to see the fulfillment of the aims of the CP whose policy involved the onerthrow of the government by force and violence if that should become necessary.
