Title: Long Walk Original Manuscript (Image #272)
Transcript: not to expel South Africa. We must condemn them as such, but there are many people in apartheid institutions, chiefs and councillors included, who are by no means traitors, and whom we can talk to and try to win over to our side.
I have patience and am boiling over with hope. I belong to an organisation whose strenght lies amongst other things precisely in the fact that it always looks at problems selfcritically and has never hesitated to examine and admit its mistakes. In Morogoro in 1969 and in Lusaka in 1971 it reviewed its work and took important decisions with which I am in full agreement. I have complete confidence in the men who lead the organisaion and for the past 15 years have watched them feeling their way forward cautiously and sure in a difficult situation. There has never been any doubt in my mind that one day we will pull down apartheid and all its institutions and build a free and united South Africa.
